Roll in the game room, survive events, and return idols to roll again. That is the core of how to play Invokyr: your group shares a board token, and each movement roll pushes it toward the center while changing the manor around you. Start at the game-room table; reaching the center starts the final challenge rather than ending the board immediately.
How do you play Invokyr from the game room?
Throw the movement die, read the event above the board, then complete its requirement before returning for another roll.

The instructions look like a board-game rulebook, but the board sends you into the house to do the work. If you searched for how to play Invoker or an Invoker game guide, this is the Invokyr round loop you need:
- Roll at the table. The six-sided movement die advances the shared token toward the board's center. You are moving the group's piece, rather than giving each player a separate turn along the track.

-
Read before leaving. Once the token stops, a rhyme above the board describes the event. A roll can summon creatures, traps, or curses, or start a survival minigame or platforming challenge. Rooms rearrange with each roll, so an old route is no guarantee of a clear return path.
-
Follow the current requirement. On an idol-collection turn, explore, bring idols back, and let the board consume them to unlock the next movement die. Other events require you to survive their challenge first.

The new danger is part of the roll, not a reason to keep rolling blindly. In the opening Demo sequence, players encounter crocodiles after leaving the table. The 2:22 to 2:31 video dialogue connects the board requirement with that newly summoned danger.

How do Invokyr dice and idols unlock the next roll?
Return enough idols to meet the board's displayed requirement; the board consumes them and unlocks another movement die.
An idol is more than loot. Its effect activates while you hold it, stops when you drop it, and resumes when you pick it up again. You cannot reliably identify its effect just from its appearance. Try moving after a pickup before committing to a long carry.

If carrying makes movement confusing, ask a teammate to guide you back. Dropping the idol lets you stop its effect while you get your bearings, but you still need to deliver it. The players in this Demo use directions from a teammate rather than trying to rush through the curse. Read Invokyr idols when you need the collection mechanic in more detail.

Roll the unlocked die: recommended when it suits your next move
Return to the table and continue toward the center. You already have permission to progress, so you can avoid another collection trip through the rearranged rooms.
Collect more idols: an option for an unwanted die
Further deliveries can generate additional movement dice, up to a maximum of three, although you can use only one. If the unlocked die is cursed or low-rolling, another delivery gives you a chance at a better choice. You must weigh that chance against another trip through the threats already in the house.
Special dice are separate tools you can find while exploring. They can heal, hide you, or hinder a pursuer, but their effects carry risks. Each recovered die is single-use; that does not mean the board can generate only one movement die for the whole run.
What Invokyr tips help you survive summoned events?
Read the event's cue and coordinate with your teammates instead of treating every threat as a chase.
Safe-tile event: follow the indicator
The colored floor can look like a guessing game. Read the event indicator and move to the tile it selects. In the Demo at 26:10 to 26:54, players explain that they follow what the indicator lands on, then call out colors and symbols.

Use a teammate's callout to find the selected tile quickly. Blue is the successful call in this sequence, not a permanently safe color.

Watching enemy: keep a teammate looking
For a Dress Mannequin, have one player keep it in view while others move around it. It moves when nobody watches, and being caught means instant death. The Demo players call the watching threat an angel, but that nickname is not an official monster name.

Suspicious door: listen before opening
A Mimic Door hurts you when opened. Heavy breathing near a suspicious door is a reason to pause instead of opening it immediately. Other creatures use different hunting rules, so take the encounter-specific approach in Invokyr enemies.
Crouch-walking near the Huntsman can still alert it because it is sensitive to sound. Two descriptions dated October 11, 2026 conflict on fire: one calls it immune to fire damage, while the other lists Fire dice as a weakness. Avoid making fire your plan for this encounter.
What are the Invokyr controls for throwing and sharing dice?
Check your key bindings; the Demo shows clicking to throw a die and pressing G to drop one for a teammate.
The throw instruction at 1:58 says only “click,” without identifying a mouse button. Invokyr supports rebinding, so these Demo actions are examples rather than a complete default-control chart. A complete default-key list still needs player confirmation.
During the platforming section, a player passes a healing die to a teammate by dropping it. Keep that distinction clear: the handoff shown here is not proof of every step needed to revive someone.

If your run has a fallen teammate, continue with Invokyr how to revive for that separate question.
How do you end an Invokyr board after reaching the center?
Complete the final trial, bring the Game Master's soul idol back to the game room, seal it into the board, and say “Invokyr” into your microphone.

Find the game room again after the final challenge. The return footage at 1:15:24 to 1:15:28 includes the players calling out that they found it. These frames show the announcement and return, rather than a close-up of the soul-idol sealing step.

The last instruction is unusually literal: speak the game's name. You do not finish just by standing beside the table.

Finishing this sequence completes the demonstrated board. The Early Access collection has a larger goal: survive its boards and defeat the Master Board. For the final-trial route and escape steps, go to Invokyr ending.
